Judicial Activism – Alive and Well
Remember Bambi Larsen?

Attorney James McManis

Bambi Larsen’s accused killed had been arrested at least TEN times prior to murdering her while she slept in her bed. And that doesn’t include the NINE detainer requests issued by ICE that he evaded.

Through the past couple decades, we’ve been watching the erosion of law and law enforcement, activist judges going very easy on heinous criminals, and how lawfare is being brought against political opponents.

After public outcry with Bambi’s murder, San Jose’s former Mayor, Police Chief, and at least one County Supervisor all claimed that our judicial system had gone too far in shielding criminals from consequences. But has anything gotten better in terms of getting bad guys off the streets?

After the 2019 murder, Bambi’s accused killer still hasn’t stood trial.  With a litany of pity-inducing woes for the courts to work with, meth addict, unhoused, schizophrenic, immigrant, homeless, will he ever stand trial?

How bad is the erosion of justice, declining public trust, and politicization and bias seen in recent rulings?

This month we’re honored to be able to hear from an “insider”. Renowned San Jose lawyer James McManis has a long record of civil rights battles and judicial fairness cases in San Jose and Santa Clara County.

Recently, McManis successfully represented the family of Rosellina LoBue, who were horrified after DA Jeff Rosen‘s new resentencing initiative aimed to remove her murdered from death row and reduce his sentence, allowing the possibility of becoming parole-eligible.

A member of the trial bar for over 50 years, McManis has unparalleled experience and skill in preparing and presenting cases for adjudication – whether by jury, judge, arbitrator, mediator or the parties themselves.

He represents Silicon Valley companies with commercial, trade secret and intellectual property issues. McManis also represents individuals in a wide variety of matters, including civil rights actions, employment disputes, family law and criminal defense.

This promises to be an interesting inside look into how our criminal justice system operates (or doesn’t) – join us!
